One of the most prominent esports organizations in North America Team Liquid has announced the appointment of Reignover as the new head coach for its League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) team for the Summer Split. Reignover will replace MaRin, who recently parted ways with the organization. The team’s new coach has an extensive background in coaching and playing, and has previously served as an assistant coach for Team Liquid in the first half of the 2023 season.
Reignover Replaces MaRin as the Head Coach in Team Liquid
In 2021, Reignover served as the head coach for Cloud9, and he played for Team Liquid in the 2017 LCS season. He is excited to take on the role of head coach and is committed to addressing the team's underperformance from the previous split.
In the announcement video, Reignover said, "Going into Summer Split, we do recognize the problems." He added, "We'll make sure we take the right steps to build up the team properly so that our players can spread their wings in a more organized system."
Team Liquid secured the eight position in the LCS with a scoreline of 8-10 in the previous split, falling short of expectations. However, Reignover's experience as a coach and player can bring in help for the team to improve its performance in the upcoming Summer Split. Reignover will be assisted by Dodo, the team's former general manager, who is stepping down to fill the shoes of assistant coach role for the Summer Split. Notably, Dodo was the assistant coach for Team Liquid when the team was at its pinnacle in 2018 and 2019.
Interestingly, Team Liquid has announced that there will be no changes in its playing roster for the Summer Split. The team is currently bootcamping in South Korea during the LCS break, where it will train and build strategies for the upcoming Split.
The LCS Summer Split is set to begin on 1st June 2023, where Reignover will debut as the head coach. His performance as head coach for Team Liquid will be closely watched by fans and analysts, as the team looks to improve its performance and compete for a spot in the playoffs.
