Sentinels, the popular North American organization competing in Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Americas, has announced a significant roster change ahead of the fifth week of the tournament. According to the announcement made by the organization on Twitter, Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen will replace Tyson “TenZ” Ngo for the foreseeable future. This decision comes after TenZ was sidelined from competitive play due to COVID19 and a joint infection in his left hand.

Sentinels Confirm TenZ Will Remain on Team Despite Roster Change

Sentinels’ new head coach, Adam Kaplan, made the call to give TenZ time away from competitive play last week, as the star player was suffering from a joint infection in his left hand and had tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Marved was added to the team in place of TenZ against LOUD and MIBR. With Marved’s addition, the team performed relatively well, winning a game against LOUD, who is currently the best roster in the league with five wins and no loss.

With only four weeks left in the VCT Americas, Sentinels will be hoping that Marved can help it secure a playoff spot. Marved had an impressive debut, where he attained a 1.82 KDA with an commendable 249 ACS over five games, according to Liquipedia. Marved will now compete against Cloud9, who has won its past three matches  against 100 Thieves, NRG, and FURIA. 

It will be exciting to see how Sentinels' gameplay will change with the roster change and how it will affect its performance for the rest of the split. Notably, Sentinels have expressed confidence in Marved's ability to step up and fill TenZ's shoes in the starting lineup.

TenZ has been a crucial part of Sentinels since he joined the team earlier this year, and the organization will be hoping for his speedy recovery. It is unclear when TenZ will be able to return to the starting lineup, but Sentinels have assured fans that he will remain on the team throughout the process.

Sentinels currently sit in fourth place in the VCT Americas standings, with a 6-2 record. With only the top four teams qualifying for the playoffs, every match from here on out is crucial for Sentinels' chances of advancing.
