Orangutan Gaming Defeats Gods Reign To Win VCL SA: Split 1

Orangutan Gaming (OG) put forth an incredible performance in the Valorant Conquerors Championship South Asia (VCL SA) Grand Finals to defeat Gods Reign and emerge as the champions of the tournament, taking home the cash prize of $14,000. Orangutan Gaming did not lose a single map, winning the best-of-five match with a perfect 3-0 score. All ten teams will now move forward to the VCL SA: Split 2, with a Valorant Ascension 2023: Pacific slot on the line. 

VCL SA: Split 1 Grand Finals Orangutan Gaming vs Gods Reign Recap

Map 1: Icebox 

Gods Reign put forth an incredible performance in the first half of Icebox, leading to a scoreline of GR 8-4 OG. Although Gods Reign managed to build up a massive lead of four rounds in the first half, Orangutan Gaming made an incredible comeback in the second half, losing only two rounds and winning the map with a scoreline of 13-10. 

Map 2: Haven 

Gods Reign once again got an amazing start in Haven, with the first half ending with GR 8-4 OG score. Despite lagging four points behind Gods Reign, Orangutan Gaming did not back down and made an impressive comeback in the second half, equalizing the score at 12-12. Following this, the map saw five overtimes, both teams winning rounds back and forth. However, Gods Reign eventually triumphed and won the map with an 18-16 score. 

Map 3: Split 

With the score now 2-0 in favor of Orangutan Gaming, it was a do-or-die situation for Gods Reign. Unlike the previous two matches, Orangutan Gaming took an early lead in the first half with a score of 8-4. Gods Reign kept up its consistency, and did not lose a single round in the second half, leading to a win of 13-4. 

After the conclusion of Split 1, Valorant fans have little time to relax, as Split 2 is already on its way. The stakes are raised this time, with the victorious team earning the chance to represent its organization and region at the eagerly awaited VALORANT Challengers Ascension 2023: Pacific. With a prize pool of $100,000, more than twice that of Split 1, the contest is sure to be fiercely competitive.
