4.02 patch notes

A recent 4.02 update patch is brought by CD Projekt Red for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, introducing a few changes for platforms like PC, PlayStation and Xbox versions.

The said patch notes have been published by the Polish game studio on Monday, including various in-game bug fixes based on the platform you want to play on. Most importantly, the update has brought stability as well as a great performance in the overall game. While PS5 and Xbox Series X received performance improvements in their 30fps ray-tracing mode, 60fps Performance Mode, it ended up in a worsened state.

PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The PC version of the game has a patch that has improvised CPU core utilization in the DX 12 version and restored horizon-based ambient occlusion. It consists of fixes for other bugs having a “My Rewards” section that has not been made public in the REDlauncher. The game is also faltering due to particle optimization.

There are a few other changes too such as how the PS5 version won’t delete the oldest save now while rewriting a manual save and the way Xbox One users smoothly load cross-console saves.

VISUAL – PC and Next-Gen Exclusive

  • Better immersion of water appearance by adding refraction to SSR and ray-traced reflections.
  • Solved a visual problem along with brick textures where back artefacts covered stone arches.
  • Added a Motion Blur slider. It can be found in Options –> Video –> Graphics.

Conclusion

The patch gradually improves Performance Mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It also solves the bugs that can be seen in individual consoles, consisting of crashes that are taking place due to memory usage at the time of using ray tracing on Xbox Series X and blurry characters in the PS5 version.

The 4.02 patch also brought a few nifty optical improvements on all the platforms, having added refraction to SSR and ray-traced reflections on the water for better immersion as well as a Motion Blur slider. CD Projekt is currently progressing with the development of Witcher and simultaneously, the studio has also declared that it was also building up a new game in the series last March.

The game Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on 14th December 2022, bringing in new outfits. The game is also greatly inspired by the Netflix series. For more gaming related updates, follow letsgamenow.com
