At the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Katowice competition, G2 Esports made history by winning the championship by defeating Heroic 3-1. The international team, made up of cousins Nemanja "huNter-" and Nikola "NiKo" Kova Among others, Kova won the competition with just one map lost and no series losses. The Kova cousins are experiencing a historic moment, especially the elder of the two who competed in three IEM Katowice grand finals before winning the coveted trophy in Poland.

Heroic performed admirably despite being the underdogs going into the finals. The team has been improving for a while. Heroic placed second at the IEM Rio Major, making this the second final in which they came up short of winning. However, as evidenced by our interviews, the crew is more hungry than ever.

Along with G2's triumph, player Justin "jks" Savage also cemented his own place in history. He has now won two consecutive IEM Katowice championships after lifting the trophy in 2022 with FaZe as a substitute. Savage's accomplishment made him the first player since 2016 to win back-to-back IEM Katowice championships and the first person to ever do so while playing for two different teams.

1.Nuke

G2 Esports, a team that entered this grand final with 19 consecutive map victories, got things off to a good start. After an unbelievable first half in which Heroic was able to gain a 10-5 advantage, huNter- grabbed the initiative and, with 133.3 ADR and a rating of 2.0, handled the CT side's comeback to help his team win 16-12. Yes, as you can see, Heroic was only given two rounds on the T-side in Nuke by G2, and it appeared as though the top-ranked team in the world would easily win the match.

2.Mirage

Heroic immediately countered with a potent attack of their own, making G2 appear less unbeatable. Before G2's turn to attack, a well-prepared T side took a 3-round lead. The captain in cadiaN appeared to be the main guy in this situation. With improved offensive play, G2 was able to tie the game with Heroic, who took the lead in the twenty-first round. The G2 team outperformed the Danes by pulling their weight and using their star power as a team. The Danes did manage to reduce the deficit in the end, but not by enough to win the game for G2.

3. Inferno

On the third map, things began to shift. On the TC side, Heroic had a difficult first half with lots of difficulties blocking G2's onslaught. On the T side, however, they felt like a fish out of water. Through teamwork, as usual, this team, led by René "TeSeS" Madsen, was able to win the game 16-11, keeping them in the championship game.

4. Ancient

Before the Danes arrived, G2 on the CT side had a 3-0 advantage. Following several back-and-forth exchanges between the two teams, G2 narrowly led after three rounds in terms of defence. Before both sides had rifles out, they began their offence with a pistol round conversion and built a six-round advantage. Back and forth until G2 miraculously wins the final map (16-7) to advance to the final 16.
