Cloud9 released its previous Halo Infinite squad at the end of 2022, a team that had just finished in a close second place in the Halo World Championship, was believed that the partnered organization was taking its leave from the scene before year two.

But today, amidst qualifying for the first Charlotte Major scheduled for the upcoming week, C9 disproved such notions and made the unexpected revelation that it will field a squad for Halo Infinite in the 2023 season after all. The only problem is that there are now just three members on that team.

Who are the players forming the roster?

C9, who previously featured Bound, Eco, Pznguin, and Stellur on its roster, has snatched up the remaining roster pieces from Oxygen Esports and Gamers First. These players are currently competing in Spacestation Gaming.

Kyle "Nemassist" Kubina and James "TritoN" Bolling of the Oxygen squad placed in the top six at the World Championship after a dramatic comeback.

Nathan "Squallaye" Kostal's entire 2022 season with G1 was marked by tremendous highs like a top-two finish at the NA Super in August and wrenching lows like a top-12 finish at Worlds.

The squad will have a lot of big shoes to fill following the outstanding legacy that the 2022 team left behind, regardless of the fourth player C9 chooses to complete it. With regular participation in the grand finals and two LAN event victories during the year, C9 joined OpTic Gaming as one of the scene's most dominant organizations. With the competition expected to be stronger than ever this year, it is difficult to conceive that the new players would be able to achieve the same heights. When the Charlotte Major qualifications begin on February 13 and 14, fans will be able to watch the new C9 Halo roster in action.
