Did you know how RLCS lay its foundation?
The Rocket League Championship Series better known as RLCS is hosted by Psyonix. The tournament kicked off in the spring 2016, providing the top teams from North America and Europe the chance to compete for their share of the $75,000 USD prize pool. The first World Championship was inaugurated in Los Angeles, California, with a reappearance during the Season 3 World Championship. Since the RLCS began in 2016, the community has been instrumental in growing the competition's prize pool.
By Season 8, there were $985,000 USD further in prizes than there were in Season 1. Rocket League designer Psyonix was acquired by Epic Games in Season 8. Due to concerns about a possible coronavirus outbreak during League Play, the World Championship had to be postponed during Season 9, which was an uncontrolled predicament. The League Play concept and biannual seasons were abandoned in Season X of the RLCS. Instead, it evolved into a free-for-all circuit style centered on events, which concludes with a yearly Rocket League World Championship.
