IEM Katowice 2023 is live with a massive prize pool

The first major competition of the 2023 circuit, IEM Katowice 2023, commenced on February 1 and runs until February 12 with a massive total prize pool of $1,000,000 USD. The three stages of the competition are the Play-In, Group Stage, and Playoffs. The latter will be aired live from Katowice, Poland's renowned Spodek Arena, while the first two will take place in an offline live setting. Format

Play-In Stage

  • A best-of-one series will be adopted for all of the opening games.
  • A double-elimination bracket will feature 16 of the 24 teams.

Group Stage

  • A best-of-three series will be employed in every match throughout this phase.
  • Each group's top three clubs will earn a spot in the playoffs.
  • The teams that rank second and third in each group will advance to the quarterfinals, while the group's winners will advance directly to the semifinals.

Playoffs

  • A best-of-five series will be employed for the championship match.
  • The single elimination bracket will be used for this stage.

Who advances?

A mix of qualified and invited teams will compete in this competition, totaling 24 competitors. Eight teams will begin directly from the Group Stage, while 16 teams will begin with the Play-In Stage.

Screening

The entire competition will be streamed live in numerous languages, including English and French, on YouTube and Twitch. Furthermore, throughout the tournament's early rounds, several streams will be active at once.
