Founder and CEO of Global Esports Rushindra Sinha lately advised Indian esports organisations to focus signing foreign players as in-game leaders (IGL) and nurturing Indian players with good aim for other roles on their Valorant roster. According to Sinha, import players might provide Indian players with vast knowledge about the global Valorant field by acting as IGLs and imparting a wealth of expertise and insights from the international stage. He conceded that he was still unsure of the circumstances but nonetheless said that he would have taken this action if his team had been playing in the domestic competition.
Better with "cracked aim" or IGL?
In a recent live stream, Sinha responded to a user's Tweet asserting that it is difficult to find players in India, even with importation, especially a player who can lead the team as an IGL. In response, Sinha claimed he held discussions with other business owners in the nation and made a suggestion. He encouraged them to look for talented players in India who had "cracked aim," but to sign an IGL from abroad. He believed that a foreign IGL could give insightful knowledge about the global Valorant environment. What an IGL can do is bring that knowledge in and enlighten all the other players on how things are done worldwide, in a sophisticated setting. Sinha said, he would hire an IGL who could train the local players' aim while bringing expertise and "brain power" to the team from outside the nation.
When will the Indian government recognise esports players as athletes, a viewer queried during the livestream? Will Global Esports lead the way in doing this? Rushindra Sinha responded by claiming that the Indian esports business is still in its infancy. He said that the government shouldn't get engaged in esports "right now" and that there are no government-related projects that the organisation has planned.
On the plus side, Indian organisations and teams have recently demonstrated their prowess in esports. Earlier this month, the Indian Dota 2 team claimed the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Global Esports was also the only organisation from India or South Asia to receive a franchise spot in Riot Games' Valorant International League.
