Despite the fact that they can seem extremely familiar to most gamers, the Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are a completely new species. Area Zero, a strange area smack dab in the heart of the Great Crater of Paldea, is one of the major mysteries of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Players will initially encounter one of two Area Zero natives, Koraidon or Miraidon, depending on the version they purchase. While Koraidon appears to be a more powerful ancestor of Cyclizar while Miraidon appears to be a futuristic version of the Pokemon, both Miraidon and Koraidon appear to be related to the common Pokemon Cyclizar.

Players must look for and capture each of the 400 entries in the Paldea region to finish the new Pokedex for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The names Iron Hands, Iron Jugulis, and Iron Thorns are Pocket Monsters that are immediately visible on the list. Gamers can now take a closer look at the novel Paradox Pokemon in the new region after first learning about these creatures through leaks.

There are a total of 16 Pokemon that are connected to Area Zero, including Miraidon and Koraidon. Due to their descriptions in the Pokedex, these Pokemon have earned the moniker "Paradox Pokemon" among players. Except for Miraidon and Koraidon, all of the Paradox Pokemon have the same ability regardless of which game they are from, similar to Ultra Beasts. While paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Violet have the ability Quark Drive, which boosts their highest stat while on Electric Terrain or when holding booster energy, paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet has the ability Photosynthesis, which boosts their highest stat while in direct sunlight or when holding booster energy.

According to Serebii.net, paradox Pokemon are recognized Pocket Monsters that have been transported to Paldea through a time machine, yet they are from opposite eras. Compared to their conventional incarnations, these animals have differing typings, stats, and movesets.

After completing the game's story, players will be able to run into them in Area Zero. While those in Violet have come from the future, the ones they encounter in Scarlet have only recently arrived.
