According to reports, PlayStation will fully integrate Discord in March of next year. Last week, the Discord mobile app contained references to linking to PlayStation Network accounts, which indicated the integration would soon take place. Users in the US may now display their PSN IDs on their Discord profiles thanks to PSN integration, which began rolling out in January. There will be more features added. In the following stage of integration, players will be able to display the game they're playing on their Discord profile on both PS4 and PS5, according to a screenshot captured from the Discord mobile app. However, voice chat will only be accessible on the PS5.

According to recent information from Tom Henderson, a reliable source who has previously provided information on PlayStation upgrades, PlayStation 4 and 5 will receive complete Discord integration as part of the 7.00 update, which is slated to be live on March 8, 2023. The PlayStation update was not explained as to why it came so long after the integration features were implemented to the Discord mobile app rather than being part of the 6.50 software upgrade that was planned for January.

After Microsoft added Discord voice chat to Xbox consoles earlier this year, the ability to use voice chat to converse with team members on other platforms or simply talk with friends while playing games could significantly improve the quality of life for PlayStation gamers and put Sony on par with the competition.

Since the beginning of 2022, PlayStation users have been able to link their accounts with Discord, with integration between the two services limited to sharing members' gaming activity. However, with this new upgrade, PlayStation gamers would have immediate access to many of Discord's biggest features without the need for a PC or mobile device. This would enable gamers who already belong to a social group on Discord to communicate with one another regardless of the gaming platform they use.

By taking the greatest aspects of other chat programs and fusing them into one user-friendly program, Discord became popular across PC and console gaming, and PlayStation integration will make it even more practical. Being able to connect through Discord on a PlayStation or a PC should make it simpler for gamers to quit struggling with in-game VoIP solutions and concentrate instead on assisting their squad takes the fight to the opposing side as cross-platform play becomes more prevalent in multiplayer games.
