The material that is now available as part of the game's limited-time Blood Moon Festival Halloween event is showcased in a recent teaser for Cult of the Lamb. By completing the Blood Moon Ritual, Cult of the Lamb players can unlock a selection of decorations and follower forms with a Halloween theme.

When it was initially published in August, the indie hit Cult of the Lamb received favorable reviews from both players and critics due to an intriguing blend of gameplay components and its adorable yet eerie aesthetic. Players assume the character of a sacrificed lamb who has escaped death and set out on a mission of vengeance while assembling a cult of obedient and endearing animal followers to carry out their instructions. With its variety of game features, Cult of the Lamb has drawn players from a wide spectrum of gaming backgrounds. It is a hybrid action role-playing game in the vein of Hades and Animal Crossing.

However, the blood moon rite, which costs 40 pumpkins, only "illuminates the dead" for three days, so these wandering ghosts won't be around for very long. The cult leader might then pursue and capture the ghosts of the deceased members. New unlocks have been added, along with decorations like flower-filled skulls and a blood moon tree that only sprouts during the blood moon.

Up until November 10th, the following are all included in the event:

  • Three new follower forms to unlock

  • New Music

  • New Blood Moon ritual

  • Four base decorations to unlock

Fans of the game had commented on the video announcement to express mixed opinions, with one user saying that they “feel like the game could use a much beefier mechanical update to keep people playing” due to the fact that “the current gameplay loop becomes a chore long before the credits roll”.
