High refresh rate gaming monitors are not new to the market, but finding one that also delivers outstanding images can be difficult. particularly if you don't want to spend a lot of money on the same. However, one monitor that I just examined accomplishes both while adding a few cool extra features. The ViewSonic XG2431 gaming monitor is reviewed in its entirety below. Let's start with the available specifications.

PROs

Build and design

You can see right away that the 24-inch monitor is well-made when you take it out of the packing. There are almost no bending points or creaking edges. All the controls are located on the right-bottom of the chin, giving you a nearly frameless appearance that looks fantastic on any configuration. After the first few times, it's simple to push and locate these without looking. Pressing any of these buttons will bring up a user interface that should be familiar to anyone who has ever used a ViewSonic display. From there, you can cycle through all the settings and preset modes.

The top and sides of the ViewSonic XG2431 are bezel-free. Additionally, VESA mounts are supported, which is ideal if you own a single- or dual-monitor VESA stand. The monitor's own stand, however, is also very strong.

Monitor stand

The monitor stand that comes with the ViewSonic XG2431 has a very plain appearance but can be quickly adjusted for height and tilt in both the vertical and horizontal directions without the need for a screwdriver. Simply push the display with two fingers to adjust the height or tilt, and you're ready to go. Even after prolonged use, the monitor's weight prevents it from falling down on its own when it comes to height.

Display quality

With the XG2431, you get a bright display and beautiful colors instead of the muted, washed colors you find on non-IPS panels, which are frequently used on other gaming monitors. This is excellent for games where you want to enjoy the graphics as much as the gameplay, such as Spider-Man Remastered, Forza Horizon 5, or any of the Tomb Raider titles.

To achieve even better images with darker media/games, you must first enable HDR support on the monitor through Windows' 'Display Settings' tab. Support for Free Sync is also included, which enables your graphics card to offer framerates that are optimized for the game to prevent tearing and stuttering. When I tested the display with both my Nvidia RTX 2060 and an older GTX 1050 Ti, it worked wonderfully.

The display also has two mouse anchors on either side of the bottom that can be folded away when not in use, as well as an integrated speaker. These serve as tension stabilizers for wired mice and stop any unintentional drag on the mouse caused by its cord, making them perfect for competitive gaming.

CONs

The monitor doesn't make many mistakes for its pricing, but there are a few minor areas where it could have been improved. The absence of an integrated cable management system is the first. When the monitor was attached, a little tunnel or groove on the XG2431's stand would have greatly improved the appearance of the display by concealing the protruding cables.

A little more loudness could have been provided by the built-in speaker. The speaker is now barely audible at maximum level, and if there is outside noise or a ceiling fan going at maximum speed, you might not even notice it is on. Although most gamers will use speakers or headphones, thus this isn't a problem, it would have been nice to have the built-in speakers used more effectively given they are already present.

Is ir worth buying?

If you're looking for a feature-rich 24-inch gaming monitor that does colors as well as it does refresh rates, the ViewSonic XG2431 is one of the top gaming displays available in its segment and a terrific addition to any gaming setup. If the cords are a hassle and you value cleanliness, like I do, I also recommend buying in a VESA mount stand for improved cable management.
