Compatibility is equally important as that of performance. AMD and Nvidia do not have any issue regarding that whereas Intel's Arc Alchemist has some kinks to work out since the company's graphics cards struggle with legacy APIs.

German news outlet PC Games Hardware took graphics card for a spin across 50 games that has been released between 1999 and 2022. The site used Gunnir's Arc A380 Photon 6GB OC for the tests and this is a model available on the market.

The Arc A380's compatibility across the 50 titles was really decent. The graphics card had issues with nine games out of the 50 that PC Games Hardware tested. It can be said that Arc A380 would have problems with every 1 out of 5 games.

The Arc A380's performance was not good with Doom Eternal, Quake 2 RTX, Halo Infinite, or Spider-Man Remastered, keeping in mind that these titles leverage the Vulkan or DirectX 12 APIs. Arc should work with games on modern APIs.

The results of PC Games Hardware revealed that Arc runs smoothly on APIs that precede DirectX. Popular games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (DirectX 9) or The Witcher 3 (DirectX 11), worked really well. It is shocking that the German publication left out other most-played Steam, including Dota 2 (DirectX 11), Apex Legends (DirectX 11), and Lost Ark (DirectX 11).

Intel has admitted that Arc has a poor performance on DirectX 11 and older APIs. The chipmaker wishes to close the performance gap between legacy APIs and DirectX 12 but it will take a lot of time.

It’s been few months already since Arc A380 has been made available in China. The ASRock Challenger Arc A380 model recently arrived on U.S. soil through Newegg for $139.99 and is already sold out. Users are waiting for Intel's Arc A5 and A7 series that will soon arrive in this year only.
