This holiday season, Hogwarts Legacy won’t be released, according to the game's official
Twitter account. The open-world RPG's newest release date is now February 10, 2023,
instead of its original 2021 target date. But just for the game's versions on the PlayStation,
Xbox, and PC. It appears that the wait will be much longer for Nintendo Switch owners who
want to purchase the game.

Hogwarts Legacy is set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter and is set more than a century
before the events of the well-known book series. Players can design their own characters,
select their homes, and enroll in classes while the game's original narrative about a goblin
uprising plays out all around them. The game's creator, Avalanche Games, has revealed
there would be no multiplayer component or microtransactions in it, choosing to focus on a
single-player, narrative-driven experience instead.

The anticipation for Hogwarts Legacy is not without its baggage, which comes as a result of
Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling's transphobic expressions. Although Rowling is apparently
not directly connected with the new game, it is unclear whether she would benefit
financially from its popularity. It's also unknown if Rowling will create any further works set
in the Harry Potter world or produce any more movies.
