As mentioned in our previous article Star Wars: Squadrons is a first-person, 5v5 multiplayer developed by Motive Montreal, the same studio which worked on Battlefront II and Anthem. If you still haven’t seen the official trailer, then please do so. The cinematic teaser trailer rendered entirely within the Frostbite engine but contained no gameplay, we also learned the game will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 2nd 2020. Cross-play was also confirmed as a feature at launch. We already know that Squadrons has a dedicated story mode but as with most games set in the Galaxy Far, Far Away, events are traditionally told from the perspective of the good guys. Squadrons will have a single-player campaign that will take place right after the Battle of Endor (right after the end of the original trilogy).

The game’s main focus, as expected, will be a multiplayer mode.Players will be able to choose from different game modes, so far only two are known. The first one is Fleet Battles where your goal will be to destroy the enemy flagship. Then there’s Dogfights where you’ll supposedly feel like in a scene from the movie. Your objective in Dogfights is to destroy as many opponents as you can. On a really bright note, EA made the promise that customization options will be unlocked solely through gameplay.

The game is available in both non-VR and VR formats and has different requirements for both versions. The minimum system requirements for the non-VR version of Squadrons is an Intel i5-7600 or Ryzen 3 1300X processor paired with either a Radeon HD 7850 or GeForce GTA 660. The game is only 30GB in size and uses 8GB of RAM in low settings. Windows 10 and DirectX 11 or above is a must. The recommended requirements for the non-VR version and minimum settings for VR version are the same. You will need 16 GB of RAM with either an Intel i7-7700 or a Ryzen 3 3200G. In the GPU department, you will need a Radeon RX 480 or a GTX 1060.The recommended requirements for playing Squadrons on VR are not very high either. You will need the same CPU as the non-VR version, but your GPU should be slightly better. A GeForce GTX 1070 or a Radeon RX 570 should be enough for you to run the game with ease.
