Chinatown Detective Agency is a single-player action-adventure game inspired by the animated detective series Carmen Sandiego. The game delivers a fantastic, fulfilling real-world fantasy experience to the players. Chinatown Detective Agency packs an engaging experience for the players, filled with the thrills of investigation and problem-solving puzzles that challenge the players' research skills.

The game Chinatown Detective Agency is a point-and-click adventure game developed and published by General Interactive Co. It soon became a sensation for its stunning retro design and innovative mechanics. The protagonist, Amira Darma, is an ex-cop who has begun her detective agency. The plot further advances with players playing as the protagonist to choose her clients and travel worldwide to solve mysterious cases with the help of real-world research.

Chinatown Detective Agency is set in the backdrop of Singapore in 2037. As Singapore struggles in the world of political corruption and chaos, this is when Amira Darma comes to the rescue as a Private Investigator in INTERPOL in the city of Chinatown to deal with mysterious new cases which have stirred up a storm amongst the masses and the government.

The players will get the opportunity to travel to other countries to solve cases. The game can be preferably called cyber noir, set in the stunning neon setting of Singapore. The compelling narrative is also responsible for inviting the attention of the players. Chinatown Detective Agency has even explored the history of Singapore and has dug into the reality of being a South-East Asian country that was captured and colonised by the British Empire, which was later dominated by the Japanese during World War I. The game has brought the varied accents of the game's characters to light, further intensifying the plot.

With the game having point-and-click gameplay, the players get the chance to develop their detective business independently. To successfully progress in the game, they need to work with intense strategies and maintain their bank accounts. The players, too, need to find clues when solving the cases mindfully.

Thus, for its real-world sleuthing and excellent voice acting paired with a compelling plot, Chinatown Detective Agency is one of the best detective video games in recent times.
