Elden Ring by FromSoftware was one of the most anticipated games of 2022, and its release matched the majority of the expectations fans had built up over the years. The game has a rich open-world scenario, and players are still uncovering new mysteries more than a month after it was released. Now, one Elden Ring player has discovered an astounding detail in a late-game sequence that adds to the gravity of the situation. Spoilers follow.

The nature of the Tarnished, persons who were expelled from The Lands Between after losing the favour of the Erdtree, is one of the most essential aspects of Elden Ring's lore. Grace, in the form of golden light trails, guides the player throughout the game. While gamers can and frequently do deviate from the road, guiding grace goes directly to the game's next objective and can serve as a handy signpost.

Redditor PM-MeChickenLegs spotted something fascinating while repeating Godfrey, the First Elden Lord's entrance sequence. Godfrey, like the player, is a Tarnished—in fact, he is the very first Tarnished. He was Queen Marika's first king consort and is widely regarded as The Lands Between's mightiest warrior, so it should come as no surprise that he appears as a late-game monster. However, because Godfrey is a Tarnished, the creators hid an Easter egg for observant gamers.

PM-MeChickenLegs observes that the trail of grace in the cutscene can be difficult to see, but its course is obvious. They recommend playing the sequence at night to experience the full effect of the moment since the guiding grace's dim glow will be more visible. It shines a different colour than the furious red lights that litter the region. Whether exhibited during the day or at night, the guiding grace is clearly heading Godfrey directly toward the player for the last confrontation between past and future Elden Lords.
