Activision has not yet announced any particular details about the upcoming game in its Call of Duty franchise, but a lot of speculations have been swirling about the game. One of those speculations has focused on a new "DMZ mode." At the moment, specifics are few, but known Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostofHope has released a new update, claiming that the mode has at least four maps in development. They also stated that the mode is unrelated to Call of Duty: Warzone. As with any rumour, readers are encouraged to take this with a grain of salt until we receive official confirmation from Activision!

"At least four maps are in the works for DMZ. The Warzone 2 map is wholly different and has no connection to the DMZ map. The design of each of these maps varies greatly; some are designed for open-world play, while others are more focused and denser "@TheGhostofHope says on Twitter.

According to current rumours, the title of this year's game will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. That has not been verified, as have all other elements about the game, but there were a lot of huge leaks around Call of Duty: Vanguard last year, so it's not hard to believe that will be the case for this year's game as well. For the time being, Call of Duty fans will have to wait and see!

Activision, hopefully, won't keep us waiting too long before revealing official details regarding the upcoming Call of Duty game! Rumours say that following the release of this game, the business will abandon its yearly release cycle for the Call of Duty series. Those suspicions started to circulate when Microsoft revealed its intention to buy the firm earlier this year. If the acquisition is approved, Activision Blizzard will be integrated into Microsoft sometime in 2023. That announcement worried PlayStation fans, but the company has previously stated that the series will continue to be available on PS4 and PS5, and may even make its way to the Nintendo Switch.
