Cyberpunk 2077 was already a very immersive game, but the DualSense update for the PS5 ups the ante even more. The adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, which was featured in the Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 patch update, significantly improve the game's overall experience. Guns are more sensitive, driving is more substantial, and even opening doors have a rumble. This functionality is not only a welcome addition to the game, but it also makes it far more vivid than previously.DualSense is one of the PS5's most immersive features, and it's split into two parts. The adaptive triggers apply tension based on the player's actions in the game, giving the sensation of pulling back a bow with increased resistance. The haptic feedback feature does more than just shake the controller; it's targeted and accurate, simulating physical feelings like driving on a dirt trail or firing a weapon. Both of these factors conspire to form the DualSense feature featured in Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen upgrade feel like a brand-new game.
The gunplay in Cyberpunk 2077 appears to gain the most from the DualSense upgrade of all the improvements. Before this, the firearms were stripped of their individuality when shot, making each gun feel quite identical despite their outward differences. Each firearm now seems more grounded and unique as a result of the change. Handguns feel different from machine guns because of adaptable triggers, while shotguns have a lot of kickback from the haptics. Even weapons that utilize electricity have haptic input when they are charged. In a game with a tumultuous history, the DualSense upgrade is a nice addition.

While the 1.5 patch addresses a variety of concerns in Cyberpunk 2077, including quality-of-life difficulties and NPCs responding appropriately to each circumstance, the DualSense feature accentuates what is perhaps the game's strongest feature: immersion. The game feels more alive as a result of changing the gameplay from a passive to a reactive one. The haptic feedback and adaptive triggers give the player's actions greater weight and make the game more immersive by allowing the user to feel the world through the controller. This is an extremely welcoming improvement to the game's driving, which now seems more grounded, enabling players to feel more like their wheels are currently on the road, making driving that previously felt a little floaty feel a lot more weighty and grounded.

These changes distinguish Cyberpunk 2077 from other shooters, and they leave lots of room for future updates to improve on the DualSense function. Despite a rocky start, Cyberpunk 2077 has proven time and time again that just because a game has a bad start doesn't imply it can't be improved - and that it can be improved even if it's already good. While the update fixes a lot in Cyberpunk 2077, it still lacks new in-game content, prompting some players to build some of the greatest Cyberpunk 2077 mods to bring the game up to date - however, PS5 players will have to make do with the DualSense upgrades until the promised DLC arrives.
