TechLand’s cult-classic zombie parkour game, Dying Light, has finally got a next-gen upgrade for the PlayStations 5 and 4 Pro. This has come after weeks of rumors and patches discussing the inevitable switch to Sony and Microsoft’s latest consoles, both after the surprise hit that the game became garnering a hardcore audience, and the processing power of the new hardware.

Released in 2015, the game became a sleeper hit amongst the hordes of zombie game fans looking for something fresh in the genre after the success of TechLand’s previous iteration, the Dead Island franchise. Dying Light put you in the shoes of Kyle Crane, a secret agent/activist who lands in the infected city of Harran, plagued by hordes of the undead, anarchist gang leaders and high-flying survivors.

In fact, with the unprecedented success that the game gained after fans fell in love with the story, character development, set pieces, narrative and of course the gameplay, the studio went back to the drawing board to see how they could top their stellar offering. Earlier this year, after numerous shifts and delays, we finally got our hands on the sequel.

Dying Light 2 hit store shelves with a lot of expectation, and has mostly taken the visual fidelity, story and gameplay to the next level, all of which were subjects of praise in the first game. Despite being criticised for a lack of expression with regards to the main character of the second game, TechLand has delivered on their promise for a next-gen Dying Light game.

And the original seems to be following suit with a new coat of paint over an already established classic. We can’t wait to suit back up in a GRE suit. Good night, and good luck.
