GTA 5's graphical upgrades for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S remaster have been confirmed by Rockstar, and they sound fantastic. The GTA 5 Expanded & Enhanced Edition, as it's officially called, will have three graphics options, one of which will be exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.GTA 5's new Fidelity mode will be playable on all current-gen platforms, according to VGC. "Faster loading times, increased population and traffic variety, higher plant density, improved lighting quality across shadows, water reflections, and other components are all included in these new editions." Plus, "enhanced anti-aliasing, motion blur, incredibly detailed new explosions, fire, and much more," according to Rockstar.

Fidelity provides 4K resolution and ray-tracing, but at the cost of a 30fps frame rate. Fidelity mode on the Xbox Series S delivers an upscaled 4K resolution rather than full 4K. There's also a performance mode that targets 60 frames per second for more responsive gameplay. The PS5 and Xbox Series X enable upscaled 4K resolution in this mode, while the Xbox Series S supports 1080p. The PS5 and Xbox Series X also have a Performance RT mode that combines Fidelity and Performance modes, supports upscaled 4K images, allows ray tracing, and targets 60 frames per second.

With a one-time migration at launch, current GTA 5 players will be able to transfer their progress from Story Mode as well as their current GTA Online characters and progress to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. You may now start transferring your Story Mode progress to the Rockstar Games Social Club by submitting a save file. New players and returning players who want to relaunch their character can use the Career Builder to select one of four illicit businesses (Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner, or Gunrunner). They'll also get GTA$4,000,000 to spend on a house, a luxury automobile, and weapons.
