Gran Turismo 7's "cash for credits" microtransaction prices have been revealed, thanks to Ps Store updates when the game goes live. No, it wasn't to inform us that Gran Turismo 7 would be delayed when PlayStation streamed a special "State of Play" update completely centred on the game on Wednesday. GT7 is set to debut on both PS5 and PS4 just a month from now, on March 4, 2022, and series creator Kazunori Yamauchi felt it'd be good to give us all a 30-minute summary of what to expect from the next iteration of PlayStation's flagship racer.

The new Gran Turismo Sport series is a microtransaction that users purchased individually and were given the right to acquire at a defined price, with only a limited amount of cash that could be used for up to two million in-game credits. Gran Turismo 7 is not as limiting, but it does sell in-game currency, which starts at $4.99 for 100 cents and goes up to $15.99 for two million dollars. The function is now accessible for players to use once the game begins to debut – at midnight local time on March 4 in each separate time zone. Because New Zealand is the farthest East of the PlayStation Store regions, the details have naturally appeared there first.

Update (3/3): The European retailers updated to incorporate MT pricing at 2300 UTC, followed by the US stores at 0500 UTC. The following are the values:

$/€2.49 for 100,000 credits

$/€4.99 for 250,000 credits

$/€9.99 for 750,000 credits

$/€19.99 for 2,000,000 credits

It's an unusual blemish on an otherwise terrific game, with Polyphony Digital marking the franchise's 25th anniversary with possibly the most concentrated and well-sealed Gran Turismo yet. It's still unclear how GT7's economy works, and how big of a role microtransactions play in the scarcity of in-game credits. Even those who have had the game since before launch haven't really explored it, and no one has found any truly quick ways to earn credits.
