Call of Duty Black Ops - Cold War gets a surprise update and gets a new weapon, and map with it. The new weapon is an assault rifle, called Vargo 52 and the new map is WMD. Well, WMD is not a new map really as this multiplayer was there in the previous Call of Duty Black Ops game that came out back in 2010.

It has been quite some time at this point since the release of Black Ops - Cold War. Cold War got released back in November 2020. And, if we are talking about the latest Call of Duty game, that is Vanguard. However, this does not seem to stop Treyarch from launching new content updates for the 2020 game. I mean, no one expected to get this update. But, it seems Treyarch has done it and ended up adding a new weapon, along with a new map. Let us go over those.

New Weapon - Vargo 52 Assault Rifle

The new weapon that is added to the game now is the Vargo 52 assault rifle. In the blog post for the update, this weapon is described as a fully-automatic weapon and is said to be optiimal at medium-range firefights. It is a fast fire rate weapon, so great for fast takedowns. The muzzle velocity and handling are also quite good on it. Thus, you can have more consistency and stable firing experience with it.

How do you unlock the Vargo 52 Assault Rifle?

Well, there are a few things that need to be done to unlock this new, amazing weapon in Black Ops Cold War.

To unlock it in Multiplayer Mode:

You would need to dish out 1000 damage in 15 different completed games.

To unlock it in Zombies Mode:

You would have to eliminate 750 zombies that have been Pack-a-Punched three times.

New Map - WMD
Well, as said before, WMD is not really a new map per se, but this is new for Black Ops Cold War, and not to mention, it is also revamped or remastered. As for the description given by Activision, it says that WMD is a lost weapon facility in the mountains. WMD has a multitude of power positions throughout both its interior spaces and exterior spaces.

From what the blog post has to say, the Production Facility will be a hot zone, and there will be a huge emphasis on verticality.

This update was quite surprising, t would be interesting to see if the developers keep on adding new updates to their games even after the end of its life cycle, which in the case of most Call of Duty games is just 1 year from the game's release.
