The current ongoing situation between Ukraine, and Russia is no news at this point. Everyone is aware of it. Amid this war, Ukrainian developer, GSC Game World has announced that they are halting the development of Stalker 2 for now. It is no surprise that the situation is currently very much dire in Ukraine. Developing a game in this type of situation is nothing but a far-fetched idea when you take into consideration that their survival itself is at risk. GSC Game World is based in Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine. In case you are not aware, Kyiv is one of the most affected cities in Ukraine in terms of the fight.

GSCC Game World has published a new video on YouTube that goes into detail about this announcement. You can check it below. It is in this very video, that the studio announces its plans to stop the game development for now. 

The video starts off with how things were going at the studio a week ago, where the team was engaged in making a video on the motion capture that was going on there. They wanted to show how the game’s cutscenes were created. Then, the video talked about how Russia waged war against Ukraine and sent its missiles, tanks, and soldiers to Ukraine. It also showed the various damages that have been made to parts of Ukraine. The video then goes on to mention that the studio is currently striving to help its employees and their families to survive. The studio says that the game development is now “shifted to the sidelines”. However, they also add that the development will continue once again, “after the victory”. The video ends with the message “Glory to Ukraine”.
 

Stalker 2’s development was met with multiple hurdles along the way. They switched engines back in 2018 and development was restarted. And, now with the current war, they are met with yet another hurdle. The last we heard from GSC about the release was that Stalker 2 would be released in April 2022. But, with how things are going, there is no doubt that the game’s release would be delayed yet again.

It is really sad what Ukrainians are having to face currently. We do hope that all Ukrainians stay safe, and may no harm come to them.
