Rimworld's developers have announced that Steam Deck updates that would improve the game's performance on the platform have been postponed. This is owing to Russia's recent aggression towards Ukraine, which also happens to be the home country of the developer who worked on these improvements.
Rimworld's webpage notes that, while Rimworld technically operates on the recently launched Steam Deck, it may benefit from a few tweaks. In general, it appears that the sport is acceptable and playable. However, just a few UI issues and a few basic points are obstructing the experience, and due to the current situation, these fixes will be delayed. According to the post, procuring a Steam Deck took a pretty long time. At first, and now the Russian invasion of his home country has made matters worse. Piotr Walczak who has been Rimworld's technical lead has stepped in to help oversee the Steam Deck integration, although they don't anticipate the patch to improve anytime soon.
Thankfully, many entertainments and tech coms sentiment, with game firms uniting to support Ukraine throughout the invasion. Ubisoft has provided emergency accommodation and finances to the effort, and SpaceX as expected aided in providing satellites region. Stalker's developers have halted production and are seeking contributions, while Euro Truck Simulator's devs are releasing DLC to generate funds.
These efforts are unlikely to end as more studios and companies join the cause, and they appear to be helping. Ukraine has formally requested that the gaming and esports sectors withdraw their support for Russia for the time being, including a ban on esports teams.
