Battlegrounds India Mobile, India's version of the famous mobile battle royale - PUBG Mobile, has been one of the best games since its release. While the game is widely loved and played by most of the Indian community for its highly competitive experience, an NGO named ‘Prahar’ in Assam has suggested that the game should be banned. The NGO suggested this even though BGMI was specially created for users in India. This article will tell you everything about this suggested BGMI Ban.

Will BGMI be Banned? Assam NGO suggests Ban BGMI along with other Chinese Apps

An NGO named 'Prahar' has suddenly asked the Indian Government to remove BGMI. The NGO suggests that the game poses a huge threat to India's security. Prahar is an NGO that focuses on Socioeconomic development.  In the letter, the NGO has mentioned that they request the government to include the Chinese app BGMI into the list of the banned apps in India under the Section 69A of the IT Act in the interest of sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of the public, security of the state and public order and save millions of unsuspecting players from falling prey into Chinese trap.

They also mentioned that Free Fire was another gaming app that was banned on the 14th of February as Tencent holds an 18.7% share in Free Fire. "As Free Fire was banned, why is BGMI not removed? In the 'so-called new avatar,' BGMI-PUBG is no different from the erstwhile PUBG with Tencent still controlling it in the background", they said.

Here's how the players reacted to this news

If the Indian government does end up banning Battlegrounds Mobile India, a lot of players would not support this action. Moreover, at this time when the esports community is growing super fast, a BGMI ban like this would hurt many aspiring esports players and their careers. YouTubers as well will fall prey to it. Nevertheless, let's see what will happen now. Hopefully, the ban might not take place as Krafton already has the Indian government's permission to operate in India as a registered company.
