The dev team at Niantic is looking to make various improvements to the GO Battle League. After the current season ends, many new changes will be made so that trainers can check out and provide feedback regarding these improvements. Here are all the details of the upcoming changes in the GO Battle League.

Pokemon GO Battle League: Key Focus Areas

The developers will work in the following four areas to make GO Battle League more improved.
Battle-code maintenance: Rewriting and restructuring the code to add more stability and flexibility for future engineering work.
Fast Attack fixes: Addressing Fast Attack inconsistencies.
Battle Logging: Providing a way for Trainers to submit detailed reports after poor battling experiences, so our team can more effectively diagnose issues and fix them faster.
Urgent Bug Prioritization: Addressing the bugs that occur in the GO Battle League in a method that provides the most impact to our Trainers.

Pokemon GO Battle League: FAQ about the upcoming changes

The dev team has also answered some of the questions asked by trainers regarding the upcoming changes in the GO Battle League. Some of them are:

How to reduce latency in GO Battle League?

Latency is caused by a delay in the information reaching the Pokemon GO server from the Trainer's device and vice-versa. Players can change their internet connection from mobile data to Wi-Fi or reverse and check which option provides low latency.

How does the GO Battle League’s matchmaking system work?

The matchmaking is based on the skill and prior performance of each individual player. Each GO Battle League competition is a unique playing field for battlers to learn and experiment with new strategies and Pokemons. There is no algorithm that matches trainers based on selected Pokemons, but there are “tiers” of trainer skill levels that are matched against each other, which can create different strategies in certain skill brackets.
It can be seen clearly in some of the special cups (e.g. the Little or Kanto Cups). When these unique requirements are introduced, trainers need to catch different Pokemons and experiment with what they find most effective. As they ascend into higher ranks, Trainers find which teams are the most effective, leading to a wide variety of Pokemons being played compared across ranks.

What can players expect next from the developers in Pokemon GO?

Currently, the dev team at Niantic is focused on stabilizing the battle experience, which will help even the playing field for all Trainers, regardless of device or connection.
Therefore, the next season of GO Battle League will be an interval season. Rewards will be based on battles won, but ratings won’t be visible nor will they affect rank. Trainers will still be able to encounter a variety of Pokemons and earn amazing rewards in the GO Battle League as the devs work on the issues.
