PUBG producer Krafton reveals India will be the core of its growing market strategy

The South Korean biggie “Krafton” known all over the global market for its popular games like PUBG: Battlegrounds and NEW STATE MOBILE, is all set to make India one of its prime centres for emerging trade.

The firm has pledged to invest more than $100 million in India's startup ecosystem. The company has announced six acquisitions totaling $86 million across segments in the last ten months.

Anuj Tandon, Krafton’s head of corporate development for India ,the Middle East and North Africa  had said the following "For emerging markets, India serves as a sort of centre for us." We believe our India plan is inextricably related to our emerging markets strategy, and we have a unique approach for the Indian market."  

It has been reported that the firm has recently funded Nautilus Mobile that is owned by an Indian Company - JetSynthesys, a digital entertainment and tech enterprise. It has plans to endeavour the South Asian and Western markets by developing new and exciting games in near future. In 2021, Loco, a live streaming powerhouse, was awarded $9 million. Krafton also contributed towards Pratilipi and Nodwin Gaming’s growth.

Mr. Tandon also added that "You can't typecast emerging markets when it comes to media and entertainment." In the next five to six years, we believe Indian intellectual property would be extremely important, not just in India but globally." 

In the future, the company may contemplate bringing properties from India to other rising countries, but it currently has no plans to produce games outside of India. "We have a distinct strategy," he explained, "and we'd like to encourage smaller studios and share our knowledge so they can prosper on a worldwide platform

Consequently, Krafton India may become a household name in India over the course of time. This indicates that the industry will be revolutionised by the esports environment and new games.
