GTA fans are finally feeling vindicated now that GTA 6 has been revealed, after bombarding Rockstar Games' social media accounts with inquiries about when the next Grand Theft Auto game will be released. Everyone already suspected it, but now Rockstar has confirmed it. Even if some are merely referring to it as GTA 6 for now, the mere mention of the game has GTA fans intrigued for what's to come next.

"Active development for the next edition in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway," Rockstar stated in a blog post this week, confirming "active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway." Players may – and most likely will – read into the "well underway" section to speculate on how long the next GTA game will take to release, but Rockstar hasn't revealed anything about it today. Instead, it stated that it would simply share further news via the Rockstar Newswire as soon as it became available.

In the meantime, fans of GTA 5 and GTA Online may look forward to the revamped versions of those games, which will be released next month. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions of GTA 5 and GTA Online will be released on March 15th, according to the same page announcing the new GTA game. PlayStation users will enjoy some exclusive privileges when the game's launch, including free access to the standalone edition of Grand Theft Auto Online for a few months.

We will have to wait until we get the next official nod from Rockstar. GTA players can participate in the joy of others in the community, such as those in the tweets below, who reacted positively to the announcement of the new GTA game.
