Kingdoms of Amalur : Reckoning is a 2012 Hack and Slash RPG developed by Big Huge Games and 38 Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It was made for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. This game was initially made as an MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) game but later, turned to a RPG. It was the only game ever released by 38 Studios, shortly after which, they went bankrupt. Later in 2018, THQ Nordic purchased the rights to the series.
Now finally, after 8 long years, we finally have some information regarding this series. We are soon going to get Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. It is listed on the Microsoft Store and the product description states “Remastered with stunning visuals and refined gameplay”, which leads us to believe this is unquestionably a remaster and nothing else. Here is the link to the Microsoft Store page.
The store page also contains a list of features of the game, some screenshots, and information regarding the release date, developer, and publisher. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will be released on 11th August 2020. It is developed by Kaiko and published by THQ Nordic. Furthermore, one of the features mentions “Extend your experience in Amalur with all DLC from the original release, from Teeth of Naros to Legend of Dead Kel and more!”. This makes it clear that Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning would come will all the DLCs from the original title.
Kingdoms of Amalur : Reckoning did not do too well in terms of sales. According to Curt Schilling, founder of 38 Studios, the game sold 1.2 million copies by the 90-day mark. However, Lincoln Chafee (the then Rhode Island governor) was a failure as it needed sales of 3 million copies to break-even, So, it will be interesting to see how Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning does. Will the remaster be a success or will it follow in the trails of its original release. We shall find out in the next few months.
