Overwatch 2 has been plagued by a slew of troubling details. Overwatch 2 has been delayed multiple times, with reports circulating that it will not be released until 2023. Following the first announcement at Blizzcon 2019, news on the sequel to the FPS has been scarce. The few updates have been depressing, but news from the Overwatch League Finals has given fans hope and insight into the game's development.

Aaron Keller, Overwatch's Game Director, revealed that all 32 heroes from the current version of the game will be carried over to Overwatch 2. Keller also teased that during the introduction of the game's second generation, we might see some "new faces." We already know that the long-awaited Sojourn will be joining the cast, but Keller hinted that there are some other heroes in the works that we haven't heard about yet.
OWL 2022 will run an early version of Overwatch 2, giving fans an early look at the game while also allowing devs to fine-tune it before its general release. Keller mentioned that the tournament would feature some of the new characters, so we could see some of these 'new' heroes as soon as April.

The OWL Grand Finals provided us our first look at a new map, Rome, as well as some new versions of select heroes. Bastion and Sombra were showcased in great detail, and their considerable alterations were discussed the next day on Twitter. For example, Bastion will be able to use his current form while in the moving ‘tank' mode, which is generally reserved for his ultimate. The release date for Overwatch 2 is still unknown, but this is the most encouraging news we've seen so far.
