As we continue to fight the pandemic, there has been an endless list of events that have been postponed, held digitally, or cancelled entirely in the last year and a half. TwitchCon, the event centred around the streaming platform and its roster of creators, was on the list. TwitchCon has been cancelled for the past two years, but it will be back next year. TwitchCon Amsterdam and TwitchCon San Diego have both been scheduled for 2022.

Twitch published a blog post on its website announcing the return of TwitchCon. TwitchCon Amsterdam will be held in July 2022, followed by TwitchCon San Diego in October. “Of course, these are uncertain times, and our plans will adjust as needed. “Safety is our main priority while arranging TwitchCon, and we will strictly adhere to local health guidelines and recommendations,” the post stated. As vaccines were available and cases declined, several events attempted to resurface, but it proved to be extremely hazardous. TwitchCon 2022 is over a year away, and it's difficult to know where the pandemic will be by then.

Mark your calendars. Next year’s about to be extra pog.

During the pandemic, Twitch experienced the largest number of views ever, owing to people staying indoors for longer periods of time, causing them to watch more content on the platform. Twitch expects this demand to grow at TwitchCon 2022.

The potential for fans to meet their favourite creators face-to-face has been a significant draw at TwitchCon over the years. Twitch has lost a lot of its top talent to YouTube and other platforms since the previous decade of TwitchCon in 2019. After securing deals to broadcast elsewhere, Timthetatman, DrLupo, CouRage, Valkyrae, and many others are now linked with Twitch. It will be fascinating to see if this has a significant impact on the performance of TwitchCon 2022.
