Splitgame is a game that is pretty interesting, to say the least. It is kind of a crossover of two popular games, Halo and Portal. For those of you who are unaware, Splitgate is a free to play, FPS multiplayer game that got released as early access back in 2019. However, the open beta release on all the platforms took place just last month, on July 27. Anyway, getting to the main point, it seems that Splitgate will be an open beta title for the time being. The developer in its recent announcement has mentioned that the game’s full release is being held off for the time. As the team would use this additional to get the game to a state that will be able to handle all the new inflow of players. As there had been many that have joined the game over the last few weeks.

Just in the last few weeks, the game’s player count has gone up exponentially. All the way from a mere 4000 all the way to 175000. Not only that but also the download numbers have also increased to more than ten million. Furthermore, what makes this feat even more remarkable is the fact that the open beta was released just like a month ago. So, it seems that the game has been a hit so far, even though it is just in its beta as of now. The developers did not expect this many players. So, naturally, to accommodate this many players the servers need to be upgraded. This has led to the team in changing various aspects of its networking infrastructure. And, we cannot blame the devs for that, as such a big surge in the players was not expected.

For these reasons, the game’s full release would have to be pushed back, and the team has not announced any date or even month by which we can expect this to be complete. The team has also announced that the game is going to be in open beta for the current future, and meanwhile, they will continue improving the game, fixing issues, adding new features, etc. And, most importantly, making the servers more capable to ensure that it can accommodate the massive scale. After all, when you make a game and then keep the players waiting in the queue as the server capacity is low is not something that you want. And, 1047 Games, the developer definitely does not want that for Splitgate is which is doing really well, and will probably do even better in the foreseeable future.
