The Favela map is well-known among Rainbow Six Siege fans and it would be precise to say that it is
notorious. It is primarily because of its destructive abilities that it became well known and the map was
added way back in 2016. This is just the map, which will be the first to make a jump from casual play to a
Ranked map. There is a patch, which is on the verge to unfold and it is there you will see this
transformation. There will be a rework in Siege's recent North Star update and their gaming fans can
expect the transformation.
The initial reason for a map update is a casual rework and only for Quick Play. However, the Ubisoft
team is showing confidence that the map is balanced enough for Siege's most competitive mode. Our
focus was also attracted to a Ubisoft tweet and it states that Favela is coming to both ranked and unranked
playlists near you. This is a tweet, which came from Ubisoft last Wednesday.
It is a reborn Favela in the offering for gaming fans and it surely has a largely new layout. It addresses
common gripes but also maintains its visual identity. Our focus caught the exteriors of the map and this is
where the most drastic changes could be noticed. There are now fewer destructible walls in this part of the
map.
Earlier there were plenty of walls to reinforce or cover. This made its bombsites frustrating to defend, but
that is now all changed.  There is also an attacking side to the malleable map and it gives spawn peekers
countless opportunities to score cheap kills. As you take a closer look at this rework, one will find plenty
of similarities to Siege's other map reworks. There is now plenty of room to breathe on bomb sites. There
are now more staircases for easier navigation and the opportunities for spawn peeks are now negligible.
The Favela map in the new version shares plenty of common features to that of a ranked map. However, a
key difference is that it's a nighttime-only destination. Maps used to have a night variant but Ubisoft had
it removed in 2018. However, the night is the only way to play Favela and it seems that Ubisoft has
changed its mind. Favela had got positive feedback during the first week and that encouraged Ubisoft to
add it to Ranked.
