The Nintendo Switch now has the STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy. With this release, Nintendo's popular console's portfolio of immersive RPG-FPS hybrids should be strengthened.
The STALKER series, created by the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, now consists of three PC games published during a three-year period that concluded in 2009. These games developed a cult following because to their captivating gameplay loops and immersive settings that appealed to RPG enthusiasts by fusing first-person shooting mechanics with aspects of horror, exploration, and a gear-driven growth system. Legends of the Zone, a re-release of the STALKER trilogy with subtitles, was shadow-dropped for the most recent two generations of Xbox and PlayStation consoles in March 2024. Later, GSC affirmed that the Switch would also receive this combo.
On 31st October, the Switch version of STALKER: Legends of the Zone arrived on the eShop, fulfilling the company's pledge. There are two ways to obtain these ports, much like with the Xbox and PlayStation versions. First, they cost $19.99 apiece and may be bought separately. As an alternative, all three games may be purchased for $39.99, which represents a 33% savings. Since March 2024, the price of STALKER: Legends of the Zone on the Xbox and PlayStation has dropped three times, to as low as $27.99. Therefore, there's a chance that the trilogy will also frequently be discounted on the eShop.
It's Best To Approach The STALKER Trilogy In The Order Of Release
If you want to play the STALKER trilogy on your Switch, you should play the games in the order they were released. Even though their stories are stand-alone experiences, players who play the games out of order will undoubtedly miss a great deal of background and narrative complexity. Furthermore, playing these games out of order may make the older ones feel much clumsier in contrast because Clear Sky enhanced the gameplay of Shadow of Chernobyl in a similar way to how Call of Pripyat improved Clear Sky's mechanics.
STALKER 2 Will Be Released Soon
STALKER: Legends of the Zone's Switch port gets released just a few weeks before the eagerly awaited fourth installment in the series. STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will finally be released on November 20 after four delays. The eagerly anticipated game will be accessible on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, it has long been confirmed to be an Xbox Game Pass day-one release. The Polish porting experts at Mataboo, not GSC, worked on the console versions of the original trilogy, hence no development resources from STALKER 2 were used.
