The position of the title character regarding Nazis is obvious to everyone who has ever seen an Indiana Jones film. Since the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark in theaters in 1981, he has been slapping people in the face. In two of the four subsequent films, Nazis have also appeared as recurrent antagonists. However, an in-game message in Bethesda's next game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will highlight the franchise's anti-Nazi position even more.

The developer of The Great Circle, MachineGames, included the following disclaimer, according to Video Games Chronicle: "The story and contents of this game are not intended to and should not be construed in any way to condone, glorify, or endorse the beliefs, ideologies, events, actions, persons, or behavior of the Nazi and fascist regimes, nor any other regimes, or to trivialize any war crimes, genocide, and other crimes against humanity."

This assertion coincides with a rise in neo-Nazi activity in both America and Europe. The more serious real-world ramifications of the Nazi atrocities have never been adequately addressed in the Indiana Jones films, and the game will continue this tradition by combining historical and fantastical aspects. But don't worry, Dr. Jones will be handling the Nazis in the game the same way he has for the past forty-three years.
