Following a contentious modification to the PlayStation Stars program, Sony has once again infuriated the PlayStation community by changing the amount of options available when using the program's points to redeem store credit. Some users claim that PlayStation has decreased the number of store credit options available in Stars, while others claim that the feature has been eliminated entirely.

Since its global launch in 2022, PlayStation Stars has grown to be a beloved aspect of the PlayStation experience. Users can gain points by completing campaigns and activities, such as playing a particular game or obtaining a particular trophy, or by buying games or DLC through the PlayStation Store. Signing up is totally free. Sony lets users spend their points in the Stars part of the PlayStation App, where they may win digital items, complete games, and store credit. Fans are not pleased with the latter, though, as it appears that a contentious adjustment was made recently.

A contentious change to Stars' terms of service back in August infuriated PlayStation fans by confirming that gamers would no longer be able to earn points through subscriptions like PlayStation Plus and would have less time to utilize them. Users have now seen that the possibilities for using shop credit have been diminished, and some have even reported that they have been eliminated, on the same day as the former modification takes effect. Fans aren't happy either way, but it's unclear what Sony's present goals are.

PlayStation Stars has always been a favorite since it lets users exchange their points for PlayStation Store store credit, but Sony's PlayStation Plus membership service is still its most popular paid product. But today, Reddit users are complaining that there is only one choice left: 2,500 points for $10, instead of the previous 1,250 points for $5 and 5,000 points for $20. However, some people claim that the option to redeem shop credit is no longer available, thus it seems that not everyone is seeing the same possibilities. Reddit user Bamila stated, "I'm in the UK and there are no options anymore," yet another user from Australia claimed to be able to see the new $10 option.

The options may have vanished for some users because the PlayStation Stars app is undergoing an update as the terms of service are being revised today, 24th October. Additionally, rather than eliminating the options entirely, PlayStation might be reducing them to a single $10 store credit option.

Redeeming store credit with PlayStation Stars points was a key component of the experience, according to many consumers. "I'm in California, USA, and the wallet funds are gone for me," posted Reddit user KristopherAtcheson. I doubt it, although it might be a glitch. In any case, why belong to [Stars] if this isn't a glitch? Not worth it unless you have money in your wallet. Fans would probably cease using PlayStation Stars entirely if Sony removes the possibility to redeem store credit, which they really missed when the game was offline earlier this year.
