According to reports, Kick is developing a scheme that will compensate people for viewing streams. One of the platform's top streamers provided the news.

Other streaming services are vying to become the largest streaming service as Twitch is still not profitable. Even though Twitch is still quite popular, some streamers have started using YouTube and Kick. While some streamers have gotten substantial contract arrangements for abandoning their regular streaming networks, others have left Twitch because they were banned. Anyway, it appears that Kick is still working to make its service the most desirable for both streamers and spectators.

Kick is developing a new currency that will be awarded to viewers who spend time viewing streams, according to Adin Ross. Ross stated during a stream that the Kick Currency will function similarly to Bits on Twitch, but viewers—not just those who are watching—will gain from it. It's an intriguing distinction because Bits are used to further promote streamers rather than the other way around, and consumers must pay to obtain them on Twitch. According to Ross, he could "give a Kick" that would allow people to "cash out." It's unclear what would earn a viewer this money, though, as he adds that "not everyone" will be compensated to watch.

Kick's New Money

Although this seems promising in theory, there are still many unsolved problems regarding it. For instance, there is no information on the value of the Kick Currency, the frequency of earning, the cash-out level, and other details. However, it might also help Kick with features like Twitch Drops, which can give viewers in-game goodies in exchange for viewing for a predetermined period of time, in addition to enticing viewers to tune into channels.

It's unclear if Twitch will lose its position as the most popular streaming site, but Kick is still looking for content producers for its platform. With YouTube's Shorts vertical video content, Google is attempting to compete with platforms like TikTok while simultaneously hosting prominent content creators on its own platform. Whether Kick Currency attracts more viewers to watch streaming on its service will be intriguing to observe. Once it's put into place, it's something that will probably keep those who already watch their favorite streamers on Kick tuned in, which is fantastic for the streamers there. However, it's unclear if it will be sufficient to attract people who don't typically use Kick.
