The creators of Once Human are offering free stuff to gamers as a token of their regret for any problems they may have encountered recently. Developed by Starry Studio, a division of NetEase, a gaming corporation making waves in the live-service gaming industry, Once Human was published in July of 2024. Most recently, Marvel Rivals, a rival to Overwatch, has drawn attention to NetEase. Even though Once Human recently used item giveaways to commemorate milestones, it seems that the makers also use giveaways as a means of reaching out to fans to apologize.

Once Human's quality of life has been criticized by players, who have detailed problems with the cooperative gaming, such as frequent lag and a dearth of features like cross-server play. Other problems include the requirement for players to make new characters in order to play with strangers, which ruins what may otherwise be a fun encounter. Starry Studio seems to have acknowledged these difficulties, especially the ones related to servers.

In order to make up for lag problems seen during Once Human gameplay, players are receiving compensation for the entire server. After Once Human's September update, Starry Studio issued an apology for the slowness that many players are experiencing as well as a roadmap for its improvements. Starry Studio is offering players Starchrom, Mitsuko's Mark, Stardust Source, Gunpowder, and Canned Seafood in Oil as a token of regret and gratitude for their patience. 11th October was the scheduled date of the first round of server performance optimizations, and 17th October is the date of the second wave.

Along the road, additional changes and additions will be made. A new PvE scenario will be implemented on October 17. Since Once Human is Starry Studio's debut title, it could be reasonable to anticipate some major problems with the gameplay as the developers learn to anticipate and address issues that players won't encounter in other games. On the other hand, Starry Studio and NetEase are depending on this release to perform successfully. As the market for live-service games like Once Human gets more competitive, problems like these will become more expensive because they may turn off viewers.

Even while some players have now voiced additional grievances now that they are aware Starry Studio is paying attention, human players have reacted to this new announcement mainly positively. While some players believe that loot boxes are equally detrimental to the gameplay experience as other components, others simply wish to see Once Human published on mobile devices with cross-play. Starry Studio may have additional obstacles to deal with as the game grows in size, but it's good to see gamers being rewarded for persevering through the difficulties thus far.
