Metro Awakening VR's official debut date is planned for 7th November, 2024, according to the most recent Sony State of Play show. The VR-native shooter was initially revealed in February 2024 for the PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2 and 3, Viveport, and Steam VR. It is a spin-off of the well-liked Metro shooter series.
Started in 2010 and based on a series of science fiction novels by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, the Metro series has been popular for a long time. In this gripping and ominously dystopian post-apocalyptic universe created by developer 4A Games, the survivors of a nuclear holocaust establish themselves throughout Moscow's vast system of underground train tunnels. The Metro games also retain their distinct and unconventional methods for game upgrades; for example, Metro 2033 uses bullets for both currency and ammunition, while Metro Exodus offers surprisingly extensive crafting and weapon modification capabilities.
With Metro Awakening VR, developer Vertigo Games will have the opportunity to bring the gripping, evocative atmosphere of the Metro series chronology directly to players' faces in November. The most recent trailer for the game provides additional plot details and confirms the November 7, 2024 release date.
The latest trailer for Metro Awakening VR's release date indicates that the game chronicles the beginnings of Khan, a formidable and enigmatic character concealed in the background of the Metro series games. Khan is a mysterious character who aids protagonist Artyom in navigating the tunnels in Metro 2033 and Last Light. He also makes an appearance in one of Metro Exodus' endings. It is made clear by the VR game that Khan wasn't always Khan. Rather, he was a survivor going by the name of Serdar, who is driven to the brink of insanity by the game's events while trying to save his beloved Yana.
