There's a catch: Splatoon 3 gamers can always go back and see the Grand Festival performances. Nevertheless, the fact that gamers can relive the three main idol groups' Splatoon 3 performances will probably make them happy.

The idol groups from the first and third games, respectively, Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, and Deep Cut, performed a spectacular presentation for the players in honor of the last original Splatest for Splatoon 3. This Splatfest moved to a special location with a three stage rotating show involving all three groups, in contrast to the typical Splatfests where a performance is hosted in the main Inkopolis or Splatsville hub. It was really disheartening because it was something the players had never seen before.

Players must use certain Amiibo in order to revisit certain performances, which is a blessing. To be more precise, in order to access the Grand Festival Splatfest, players must possess any of the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, or Deep Cut Amiibo. A user can just scan the Amiibo into Splatoon 3 using any of these methods, just like they would normally. There was only the ability to save equipment sets and take pictures before, but now there is a third option that lets players "remember" the Grand Festival. The player can choose to visit any of the three days after selecting it, and all of the idol groups will still be playing, including the brand-new Splatoon 3 song that features every idol.

Getting Into The Splatfest Grand Festival

  • In each city center, use the Amiibo box to scan a Squid Sister, Off the Hook, or Deep Cut Amibo.
  • Decide on the Grand Festival.
  • Select a Day for Splatfest Entertainment

After completing this process, the player's Octoling or Inkling will reappear in the Grand Festival, where they can explore the area and take in the performances. Naturally, participating in turf war matches on the Grand Festival stage is no longer an option, as that was reserved for the Splatfest. Since it has never been done before, aficionados of the Amiibo are probably going to appreciate this feature. This function is a bit of a throwback to the original game and the Squid Sister Amiibo, which allowed users to see the Squid Sister Splatfest performances and select additional songs whenever they scanned one. Both of the follow-up games with their respective Amiibo releases lacked this functionality.

At this moment, it's unclear what the Splatoon series' future holds. Given that Team Past emerged victorious from the Grand Festival Splatfest, the next game might take a completely different turn than the ones that came before it. Either way, a "past" motif may inspire the developers in new ways, or players could learn more about the Great Turf War. For the time being, though, one of the most iconic scenes in the game can be relived.
