Liquid won every game they played in the Playoffs, with their only losses occurring in the preliminary Group Stage and Seeding Decider stages. This was the most dominant performance by a TI champion in history. Additionally, this year's TI grand finals concluded with a 3-0 sweep for the third time in a row.

Liquid's triumph brought them the $1.15 million grand prize from the $2.56 million prize pool of the tournament, in addition to the organization's second Aegis of Champions, which they added to their first from TI 2017.

Offlaner Neta "33," liquid Shapira, who won his first TI championship with Tundra Esports in TI 2022, also joins the exclusive group of Dota 2 players who have won two TI championships. In addition, he has established his own exclusive club, becoming the first player to win a TI championship while playing for two separate teams.

Michał "Nisha" Jankowski, a liquid mid laner, has also at last secured the Aegis after four prior efforts, coming close with Team Secret's second place performance in TI 2022. After three previous attempts, the title was also won by carry player Michael "miCKe" Vu, position 4 support Samuel "Boxi" Svahn, and position 5 support Aydin "Insania" Sarkohi.

In the meantime, Gaimin Gladiators earn almost $350,000 for their efforts and leave TI 2024 with a respectable second place finish. They have now missed the top step for the second year in a row after losing to Team Spirit in the TI 2023 grand finals, proving that they are still unable to obtain the Aegis.

The Path Taken By Liquid To Become TI 2024 Champions

Liquid and Gladiators both received straight invitations to TI 2024 as a result of their outstanding year-long results. The legendary rivals showed remarkable improvement throughout the tournament to finally face off in the finals match, even though not many considered both teams to be among the strongest candidates for this year's Aegis of Champions.

Liquid and Gladiators had very different tournament starts when they began the TI 2024 Group Stage in Groups D and B, respectively. With a 4-2 record, Liquid was the second seed in Group D at the end, their only losses coming to Spirit, the reigning champions. Gladiators, on the other hand, only managed a 3-3 record, but it was sufficient to earn them the second seed in Group B.

Following their victories in the Seeding Decider, both teams were awarded upper bracket places in the Playoffs; Liquid defeated BetBoom Team, while Gladiators rebounded to overcome G2.iG.

Liquid easily defeated Cloud9 and Xtreme Gaming in back-to-back sweeps in the Playoffs to go to the upper bracket finals. In order to play their longstanding rivals for the first place in the grand finals, Gladiators overcame nouns and swept Tundra Esports on the other side of the bracket.

Although Gladiators have dominated their opponents in nearly all of their previous meetings over the last few years, this one appeared to be completely different. Liquid stunned everyone as they defeated Gladiators handily, advanced to the grand finals, and eliminated their opponents to the lower bracket finals.

If Gladiators hoped to reach their second-straight TI finals, they first had to face a surging Tundra Esports who were coming off a sweep over tournament favourites Team Falcons in the lower bracket semifinals. In the first match of TI 2024's Finals Weekend to be settled after the full three games, Gladiators overcame Tundra after a 69-minute game three thriller to earn a rematch with Liquid for the Aegis of Champions.
