It seems that Meta unintentionally released some intriguing new information regarding the Meta Quest 3S, including the addition of a new function known as the Action Button. Although the firm hasn't made the Meta Quest 3S official yet, the virtual reality headgear has been mentioned in a number of leaks and might possibly have been in a video that the CTO of the company posted.
The Meta Quest 3, the company's most recent consumer-grade VR headset, has the best resolution available outside of the Meta Quest Pro, which is more business- and industry-focused. With certain downgrades from the Meta Quest 3, the anticipated Meta Quest 3S, originally known as the Meta Quest 3 Lite, is supposed to be a more reasonably priced gadget that will fill the gap between the Meta Quest 2 and 3.
Recently, some intriguing information was discovered on Meta's official support page by a VR enthusiast named Lunayian. However, the page has since been removed. The website briefly mentioned the Meta Quest 3S by name on the passthrough support page, revealing that it will have an Action Button, a new feature. The Action Button is intended to enable users to switch between passthrough and full virtual reality modes with ease. It appears that this button will take the place of the double-tap feature that the Meta Quests have been using to achieve the same functionality up until now. Temporarily, another support website disclosed that the Meta Quest 3S will feature the same bystander signaling light as the Meta Quest 3.
Why Did The Official Support Pages Leak Meta Quest 3S Details?
These new help pages may have been inadvertently released in advance of the next Meta Connect event. The two-day event, which takes place on September 25 and 26, will be Meta's yearly chance to discuss the company's ongoing projects and future plans for its AI, VR, and mixed reality products. The Meta Quest 3 headset was unveiled by Meta Connect in 2023, and it was released in less than a month. Users may be able to obtain the Meta Quest 3S as early as October 2024 if this timeline holds true for it as well.
Like with the latest PlayStation leaks, Meta has been subtly teasing this device without formally confirming its existence on multiple occasions, whether by accident or on purpose. Fans of virtual reality will have to wait until later in September to find out what the corporation has officially planned, but as of right now, it appears like the Meta Quest 3S's existence and specifics are virtually guaranteed.
