The plans for World of Warcraft Classic's big Realm consolidation in Season of Discovery Realm, which is scheduled for 19th September, have been made public. This should be the last time fans of Season of Discovery have to relocate their characters until the end of the experiment, as all but two Realms for this World of Warcraft game style are closed to new players.

The most current experimental game mode for World of Warcraft Classic is called Season of Discovery, where players can discover runes that change classes, take on updated versions of well-known encounters, and even explore dungeons that have never been seen before. WoW Classic Season of Discovery has had to repeatedly consolidate its Realms in order to maintain the stability of the servers as it has progressed. World of Warcraft recently said that it would be closing its doors for good, planning to establish a single PvE and PvP "megaserver" in every zone.

World of Warcraft has now disclosed the launch date for these initiatives. Crusader's Strike, also known as Living Flame for players in the EU, will take over as the primary PvP server on 17th September, while Wild Growth will serve as the primary PvE server. Free Character Moves to the WoW Classic Season of Discovery megaserver that corresponds with their initial Realm will be available to characters on all other servers. The servers will be closed to new accounts; only players who currently have characters on the server will be able to create new toons. However, players will still be able to stay on their original Realms.

Character creation has been blocked on Crusader's Strike, Living Flame, and both US and EU Wild Growth to ease this transition. In order to increase the likelihood that transfer characters will be able to preserve their current names, this will stop players from claiming names before the consolidation. A few days after transfers start, character creation on these servers will reopen on 19th September.

Furthermore, as part of this change, World of Warcraft will employ the Name Reclamation feature, which will enable toon names from accounts that haven't been logged into the game since 11th July—the beginning of WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 4—to be taken on by transfers or new characters. It is important for players to make sure they check in to Vanilla World of Warcraft prior to the merger if they haven't played since then but still want to retain their names.

Hopefully, until World of Warcraft ends the experiment, this will be the last time fans of Season of Discovery will have to worry about moving their characters. However, fans still have plenty of time until they need to worry about that because Phase 5 of WoW Classic Season of Discovery begins on 26th September, which is the week following the Realm consolidation.
