Following its acquisition of the IP in 2019, Cloud Chamber, a studio established under publisher 2K, began development on BioShock 4. About its present state and progress, though, neither 2K nor the developer have provided much information. It is similar to the Far Cry series from Ubisoft in this regard. Fans primarily rely on leaks, speculations, and other unofficial channels for news regarding BioShock 4 and the upcoming Far Cry, as there hasn't been any official information or updates published about them in a while.
While fans eagerly await additional information about what could be in store for both brands, a few of the aforementioned rumors have gained traction and have continued to receive support without any disclaimer from the original authors. Among these, some assert that BioShock 4 will occur in Antarctica and may even be an open world game. Regardless of if this proves to be accurate for the next BioShock, it creates an intriguing dialogue between it and Far Cry and offers the latter a possible direction to take that sounds like a good fit.
The Possible Antarctic Setting For BioShock 4 Is Already An Entertaining One
Players of BioShock have traveled from the narrow, dimly light passageways of Rapture in the previous two games to the bright, sunny sky-city of Colombia in BioShock: Infinite. The gameplay was similar overall, despite the fact that they were literally as dissimilar as night and day in this regard. The presentation and design of both locations starkly mirrored the themes of the games. Even though the Antarctic angle is yet unconfirmed, the story, gameplay, and environmental elements of BioShock 4 might all benefit greatly from the remoteness and alluring scenery of the icy continent. Additionally, the concept of Antarctica serving as a gaming world is intriguing.
Far Cry Might Capitalize On The Rumored Antarctica Setting From BioShock 4
Over the course of its 20-year existence, Far Cry has covered a lot of territory, but the majority of its titles have taken place in either the plains and savannahs of FC2 and FC5, or tropical island jungles like FC1 and FC3. The Himalayan Mountains, which can be seen in Far Cry 4, are the closest Far Cry has gone to a colder location like Antarctica. They gave the world a little more verticality and made it stand out at a time when its other designs were starting to show their age.
