According to a recent claim, Grand Theft Auto 6 will only be marketed by Sony in conjunction with the PS5 and the soon-to-be PS5 Pro. Since Sony and Rockstar Games have been friends since the PS2 era, it wouldn't be shocking if the two gaming titans teamed up to promote Grand Theft Auto 6, which has been waiting a long time.
Few game franchises have had such a profound impact on the minds of consumers as Grand Theft Auto (GTA); as of September 2023, the series had sold over 410 million units worldwide. Due to the enormous amount of anticipation surrounding it, GTA 6, the upcoming game in the series, is expected to significantly increase that figure. Fans have been asking when Rockstar intends to reveal more about GTA 6, despite the game's autumn 2025 release date. To no end thus far, some have even gone so far as to attempt to interpret "clues" that might be referenced when Rockstar talks about GTA 6 once more.
When GTA 6's next trailer will release is still unknown, but rumours about the game are still rampant. Most recently, one rumour suggested that Sony and Rockstar may have worked out a deal for GTA 6's exclusive marketing rights. Industry insider MAGG stated on the most recent XNC Podcast that Sony had "locked down" a marketing deal for Grand Theft Auto 6, allowing the business to promote the game alongside "PS5 and PS5 Pro only." The insider guaranteed that while GTA 6 will still be available for Xbox Series X/S owners, its "marketing exposure" on the Microsoft platform will be reduced as a result of the Sony agreement.
MAGG went on to say that since Trailer 2 for Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to include the PlayStation logo, the exclusive marketing agreement will be made public at that time. Additionally, though he isn't entirely certain, he believes that GTA 6's second teaser will debut during the 2024 Game Awards in December. Remarkably, insider RedGamingTech just tweeted that Sony will use Grand Theft Auto 6 for "heavy marketing" of the PS5 Pro, supporting MAGG's report even more. They do, however, suggest that you wait for official confirmation before accepting the material as true.
It might be quite important for PlayStation to get exclusive marketing rights for a game as revolutionary as GTA 6. It would not only help the general public link PlayStation with Grand Theft Auto 6, but it would also enable Sony to offer PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles packaged with GTA 6. Since GTA 6 is a current-gen exclusive, it is expected to cause an unprecedented spike in sales of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upon its release. Additionally, many first-time customers would probably lean toward the platform that comes pre-installed with a copy of GTA 6. Only time will tell if a specific PS5 Pro setting that could enable GTA 6 to run at 60 frames per second is planned.
