Xbox Game Pass will launch with Age of Mythology: Retold as another title in its library. With Microsoft's membership service, players can choose from hundreds of games for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to roughly 25 titles for Core. The ability to play a large selection of games on launch day is another perk that the top tier subscribers will enjoy, which may make the service even more appealing to some.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offers a fantastic selection of titles, many of which are available right away, as well as exclusive Perks, discounts, and EA Play membership to its users. These benefits usually come in the form of free in-game things, such as an NHL 24 beginning pack, but they can also occasionally come with real-world goodies. For instance, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have until January 2025 to redeem a three-month complimentary subscription to Discord Nitro. Previously, free trials of Disney+ and Grubhub were also available, as well as Spotify Premium memberships.

Three new strategy games are coming to Xbox Game Pass in September. Age of Mythology: Retold is the first game, and it comes on September 4. World's Edge and Forgotten Empires produced the real-time strategy game, which has already earned mostly favorable reviews. A few weeks later, on September 17, Train Sim environment 5 will release, and on September 20, Frost Punk 2, the much awaited follow-up to 2018's critically acclaimed city-building survival game set in a post-apocalyptic environment, will launch.

As the name suggests, Age of Mythology: Retold is a remaster of the Ensemble Studios original game, which was published in 2002. It features completely redesigned animations and updated graphics because it runs on the Bang Bang game engine, which is also used by Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition. The in-game models have been entirely redesigned, and even the mechanisms for demolishing buildings under assault have been improved to look more realistic. For instance, a burning Granary will emit smoke and drop pieces of wood before crumbling into debris.

Because the game is tailored for the Xbox Series X/S, users can experience faster load times, 4K resolution, and frame rates of up to 120 fps. For a higher price, a premium version of Age of Mythology: Retold is also offered for purchase. In addition to seven days of early access, premium subscribers had access to Freyr, the Norse deity of loyalty and wealth. It also comes with two future expansion packs, the contents of which are still unknown but of which the Chinese pantheon is known to be included in the first.
