Xbox Insiders can now take advantage of new capabilities that were added to Discord via a big update for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles. All Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players will soon have global access to these new Discord features.
Over the years, Discord has seen significant development to rank among the largest chat and social media platforms worldwide. Discord has always focused on gaming, and in 2021 it joined together with PlayStation to provide its services on consoles. Discord enhanced its feature set on PlayStation consoles in a number of ways, and this year saw a significant advancement with the arrival of Discord voice calls on the PlayStation 5. Xbox players will also be able to use helpful Discord features straight from their console this year.
Discord revealed on 31st July that new capabilities were now available to Xbox Insiders, and that a future update would bring these features to a worldwide audience. First off, friends from Discord who are gaming and having voice calls will now appear in a "Happening now" area on the Xbox friends list. Users can initiate a call straight from their Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S console, watch a friend stream a game, or join a voice channel on Discord using this list. This means that moving forward, using Discord on Xbox systems will be more simplified.
Discord Updates Xbox Consoles with Two New Features
The Xbox friends list now displays Discord friends and channels.
Direct viewing of Discord feeds from Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles are now possible for users.
Xbox players may now watch Discord streams straight from their console thanks to the second new feature. Players can access their member list in the Xbox guide, pick a user's profile, and choose "Watch Stream" to view a Discord stream. Once chosen, players can enjoy the full-screen display of the Discord stream. There are also choices for volume and mute.
Discord states that the primary objective of these new features is to make using Discord on Xbox systems without a smartphone or other secondary device unnecessary. Players will spend less time monitoring Discord while enjoying their favourite Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S games because they can connect immediately from the console and read their friends' activities.
Before a worldwide launch, Xbox Insiders are the first to receive updates, so those interested in seeing what the Xbox UI might look like in the future can sign up by installing the Xbox Insider Hub software for Windows and consoles. Xbox invites users to provide input so that updates and integrated apps like Discord can be improved. The Xbox Insider Twitter account tweets information about impending alpha updates as well.
