The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) and ESL FACEIT Group are hosting the 2024 Esports World Cup, a multi-game competition that is now taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is the inaugural event of the Esports World Cup, a competition series that was unveiled as a rebranding and growth of Gamers8 in late 2023. Games like Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, and more are among the 22 games in which competitions are held during the tournament.

The Esports World Cup includes the championship series for each title, while each game has its own separate qualifying system. In addition to the game tournaments, participating organisations can compete in a Club Competition that spans all games.

Format

23rd October, 2023 saw the announcement of the Esports World Cup.Beginning in the summer of 2024, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, would host the competition every year. The EWC offers competitions across a range of games and genres, as well as a "Club Competition" that allows esports organisations to compete in numerous games.

The Gamers8 series, which was originally staged in Riyadh in 2022, was rebranded as the Esports World Cup.

Club Program

The Esports World Cup Club Program, "designed to promote sustainable planning" for organisations, was launched by the EWCF on 1st February, 2024. When the EWCF first revealed its plans, it had 22 organisations accepted by direct invitation and 6 through an open application procedure. After the teams were revealed on 5th May, 2024, this was then extended to 8 open candidate teams, for a total of 30 paired teams.

A six-figure annual payout to support operations and teams' entry into highlighted titles at the Esports World Cup are available to selected organisations. In addition, these organisations have the potential to receive cash compensation contingent on their ability to increase attendance and fan interaction during the event.

Applications for esports organisations through the open application process were to be submitted between 1st February and 15th February. Afterwards, applications that were accepted had to present their work to the Esports World Club committee.

Teams must still meet the eligibility requirements for the Esports World Cup on their own; membership in the Club Support program does not ensure participation in the EWC competitions.

Club Championship

A prize pool of $20,000,000 USD is awarded to the top 16 organisations in the Club Championship. With the winning team gaining $7,000,000 USD. Teams are awarded points in the overall ranking by finishing in the top 8 of a tournament, with a first place giving a 1000 points total. To win the Championship however, a team needs to also win at least 1 of the 23 tournaments.

This Championship is open to all organisations competing in the EWC, regardless of if they are a part of the Club Program or not.

However, organisations had to declare a public roster entry prior to 14th June, 2024 - 02:29 IST to be eligible for points in that respective game. The deadline was extended to 28th June, 2024 - 02:29 IST specifically for Call of Duty events.

Prize Pool

$60,000,000 USD is the overall prize pool of the competition, which includes the reward pools for each individual game and the Club Championship.
